Our Story

WIFT was never meant to be a business. It started as a fix — for a problem that every meeting planner, producer, and sourcing lead has faced for years.

Back in the early 2000s, we built a tool into our production company’s website to solve a recurring frustration: figuring out how many people could actually fit in a ballroom, breakout, or general session space. Not theoretical capacity. Real, usable numbers based on layout, furniture, and square footage. It was basic, but it worked — and we used it constantly.

Years later, that tool evolved into a simple iOS app. We used it internally at shows, on site visits, and during planning calls. Still no frills, but always accurate — and fast.

Then in 2023, I decided it was time to rebuild WIFT from the ground up.

I teamed up with Kris McNeil, a longtime partner in production and someone with deep experience in app development and event tech. We knew planners needed something better — something built for speed, accuracy, and mobile use. Not another bloated platform. Just a clean tool that actually worked.

In 2024, we brought in Seun Sanusi, a senior developer with the talent and vision to bring WIFT to life. What started as a side project quickly became something more — a full product, designed for real-world use by planners, producers, sourcing leads, and venues.

Today, WIFT helps teams lay out rooms, calculate capacities, build diagrams, and share floor plans in seconds — all from their phones. It’s fast, intuitive, and focused on doing one thing really well: making planning easier.

We’ve come a long way from that first web calculator — but the goal hasn’t changed — and we are just getting started.
